Considering the current scenario, the Corona Kavach Policy has been designed by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA). The policy is available on an individual and family floater basis. It has a base cover on Indemnity Basis-COVID hospitalization cover and optional cover on Benefit Basis -Hospital Daily Cash. The sum insured is Rs 50,000 to Rs 5,00,000 for a waiting period of 15 days. The IRDA has mandated to general and health insurers to offer this Individual Covid Standard Health Policy to its customers. The motive is to make the policyholders aware of the scenario and prepare them for any untoward situations. Also, the Know Your Customer (KYC) process and the obligatory medical examination can make the customers eligible for Corona Kavach Policy.
